Russian club offers £250m for Messi

Culled from the BusinessDay Newspaper of 27/12/012

Twitter has been buzzing with rumours of an unimaginable bid for Barcelona star Lionel Messi from an unnamed Russian club.
The bid is said to be worth £250m and the club reportedly offered Messi £30m a year in wages.

Lionel Messi has recently extended his contract with Barcelona, which will keep him at the Catalan club till 2018. However, according to news reports Barca has inserted a £250m buyout clause in Messi's contract.

If any club meets the price fixed by Barca they are free to talk personal terms with Messi.

But Fox Soccer News has tweeted that Barca have rejected the offer, which is impossible.

Previously, Manchester City made a £30m bid for Messi by mistake and it was rejected. The then chief executive Gary Cook blamed it on a minor misunderstanding. But a £250m bid shows intent than a gross error from this unnamed Russian club.
